'Fernanda de Utrera' will be awarded the Medalla al Mérito del Trabajo

This distinction which carries the title of «Ilustrísima Señora» was
originally solicited by the Asociación Cultural Triste y Azul in parallel
with the well-deserved tribute she received in Madrid on March 11 of this
year. Under the auspices of said organization thousands of flamenco-lovers
throughout Spain and the rest of the world added their voices by signing
a petition to the Spanish government requesting this honor for Fernanda,
one of the most admired and beloved flamenco figures of the twentieth
century.
