Tablao Flamenco Torero
Located halfway between Puerta del Sol and the Barrio de las Letras (Literary Quarter), Tablao Flamenco Torero on Calle de la Cruz hides a brick-lined vaulted cave in its basement. Here, you can enjoy the most authentic and deep-rooted flamenco—pure, unadulterated, and completely acoustic. Respect for this art form, intimacy, and proximity to the performers are its core identity. As a prelude to the approximately one-hour show, a brief introductory talk is offered to discover the origins and essence of our tradition.
The venue spans 500 m², has a total capacity for 197 people, and is split into two floors:
- Street-level floor: Features a bar-cafe with tables, chairs, and a small stage, as well as an exhibition and event room that fits up to 50 people. This cozy space also hosts monthly conferences and roundtables on flamenco culture, featuring top professionals in the field to bring this art closer to enthusiasts and the curious.
- Basement floor: Accessed via a carpeted staircase, this brick cellar houses a room for classes and rehearsals, along with the main stage. The main stage accommodates 70 spectators seated in a semicircle and hosts the Essential Flamenco show. Its artistic director is Juan “El Mistela”, winner of the National Flamenco Critics Award in 1997. Thanks to his extensive career and expertise, El Mistela has assembled a group of great artists who have formed a true family, performing every night to convey their complicity and the deepest (jondas) emotions of flamenco.
This stage also features Teatro Lorquiano, an opportunity to experience several works by the universal poet Federico García Lorca. Led by dancer, actress, and producer Mónica Tello, this performance beautifully fuses theater and flamenco.
Unlike other tablaos, Torero does not serve meals to avoid disrupting the creative silence required by the artists. Since it is an intimate space, no microphones or speakers are used, allowing the audience to experience the pure, natural sound of the instruments and voices.
The venue can be rented entirely or partially for all types of events.
