The 21st edition of the Festival de Jerez will be held February 24th to March 11th, 2017. The main venue is the Villamarta Theater, and there are others such as the Sala Paúl, the Sala Compañía, the González Byass Bodegas and the Villavicencio Palace.
Special 21th Festival de Jerez 2017 – All the information
The Festival will open with the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, under the direction of Rafael Estévez at the Villamarta with the work “Aquel Silverio…”. Other premieres during the Festival include those of Olga Pericet, David Coria and the Nuevo Ballet Español.
Other noteworthy artists in the Festival include Joaquín Grilo and Antonio Canales, Patricia Guerrero and Eduardo Guerrero, Farruquito, María Pagés and Rocío Molina.
Other venues such as the Sala Compañía, Sala Paúl, Bodegas González-Byass,will receive new generations of dancers and other performers with a name already made for themselves and a very flamenco personality. In some cases merging flamenco with other kinds of music and concerts, and as in other years, the Palacio de Villavicencio will be the scene for new voices of flamenco singing.
As far as free activities, ‘De peña en peña’ is offering two important novelties compared to previous editions. For one thing, it is now a midday activity that joins gastronomy and flamenco. Another new thing will be a prize for the best new artist that will allow the winner to perform in future editions of the event.

COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES, SERIES DE PEÑA EN PEÑA
As in other years, the Festival de Jerez, in collaboration with the Federación Local de Peñas Flamenca, is organizing the series “De Peña en Peña”, with the aim of promoting young local artists. This series will be carried out at flamenco peñas throughout the city.
PRESENTATIONS, CONFERENCES AND TALKS AT THE BODEGA
For the duration of the Festival de Jerez, the Tertulias or meetings at the Bodega open the possibility of dialogue with the artists, to get to know the new projects cooking up in the world of flamenco, and keep us informed about recent experiences in the distribution of flamenco throughout the world, to know about the latest developments in the editorial, audiovisual and digital worlds. In other words, to talk about flamenco, with a glass of Jerez wine. These Tertulias will take place at the Bodega de San Ginés daily at 1:00pm with the following topics:
• Encounters of media and participants of the day’s activities.
• Presentations
• Projection of promotional documentaries and videos of flamenco artists.
• Complementary activities related to the Formative Area of the Festival.
