The Festival de Jerez offers a wide quality sampling of the city’s most genuine and representative artistic manifestation: flamenco. This is the idea behind the Festival. With the focus on flamenco and Spanish dance, the Festival de Jerez is a unique undertaking among events of this type throughout the world.
The Festival supports the creative evolution of flamenco via the development of its expressive forms, and modernization of all its idioms from the starting-point of tradition. The Festival cultivates the blending of styles, encouraging the creative activity of artists determined to find new aesthetic and expressive paths for flamenco in the 21st century.
As a logical consequence, the Festival does not have the mere goal of presenting the status quo, but also has an educational program that supports creativity and the encounter with other artistic genres.
The Festival de Jerez is also a calling-card for the city itself as a natural venue with activities distributed throughout a variety of public spaces and unique buildings.
