Enrique Morente has a new record, that’s more than twenty and counting.  On this occasion the maestro rounds up poems and texts of the Málaga painter Pablo Picasso, memories of the painter’s hometown to which Morente puts music and voice.

The record was put out by Caimán Records along with the label Morente himself set up years ago called Discos Probéticos.

“Pablo de Málaga” is thirteen colors that make up the image of a genius, thirteen flavors that are reminiscent of the south, and of the city where the painter grew up and which is reconstructed in overlapping geometric images.  Thirteen audio offerings, thirteen gifts from a prodigious voice that evokes its own beauty and in which the painter’s voice appears in “Autorretrato”, giving form to all the original, previously unpublished texts.  Also never before published are the engravings that decorate the record.

One of the people responsible for the record is Rafael Inglada, a great connoisseur of Picasso’s writing, to which he introduced Enrique Morente.

“I was attracted by the sense of freedom and open-mindedness in the lack of any pretense as a writer; all the lines were written with love and grace, a Málaga way of being he never lost, always remembering the light, the flavors and aromas of Málaga” Enrique Morente.

Sponsored by the BBK, Morente’s newest project was presented at the auditorium of the Reina Sofia Museum on June 11th in a private concert for the media and other guests, where he interpreted various pieces from the new record. Another much-awaited occasion was the presentation of the record in the city of Guernica on June 14th, the city whose suffering inspired Picasso’s best-known painting.
