Vicente Amigo and Blanca del Rey receive Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes

On December 29th 2015, the Spanish Cultural Ministry announced the winners of the lifetime achievement awards known as the Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes, notably going to dancer Blanca del Rey and flamenco guitarist Vicente Amigo.

The Spanish Council of Ministers, on behalf of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, today approved the concession of Medallas de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes for 2015.  This award is given to individuals and entities who have made an outstanding contribution in the field off artistic creativity in the way of services rendered, or via teaching, development and dissemination of the arts, or the preservation of Spain's artistic heritage.

Other relevant winners for 2015 are soprano Ainhoa Arteta, actor Emilio Gutierrez Caba, singer “Loquillo”, graphic artist Cristina Iglesias –for her design of the poster for the Festival Internacional de las Minas 2014, the group Los Secretos and the restaurant El Celler of Can Roca.

In recent editions María Pagés, El Güito and Manolo Sanlúcar were awarded in 2014, and collected their medals this past December.  In 2013 the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas was awarded in 2013, and dancer Israel Galván in 2011.
