The show “Estamos Vivos de Milagro. Granada-Sevilla-Nueva York” will open the 2014 edition, production of the Teatro de la Maestranza.

The figure of Enrique Morente and his musical and creative legacy will be the focal point of the opening which is to include the performances of Estrella, Soleá and Enrique Morente Carbonell.

In the Pavillion of the gardens of Cecilio Rodríguez in Madrid’s Retiro park, the presentation of Destino Sevilla, 18th Bienal de Flamenco 2014 took place.  Presided over by the mayor of Seville, Juan Ignacio Zoido, many political personalities, flamenco artists and representatives of tourism, culture and the media were present.

At the same time, the gala inauguration show was presented, a production of the Bienal de Flamenco which is scheduled to open the 2014 edition on September 12th at the Maestranza Theater.

“Estamos Vivos de Milagro. Granada-Sevilla-Nueva York” is the name of this show that includes many artists such as singers Estrella Morente, Carmen Linares, El Pele, Arcángel, Juan José Amador, Soleá Morente and Enrique Morente Carbonell, dancers Israel Galván, Javier Latorre and Belén Maya and guitarists Pepe Habichuela, Alfredo Lagos and Dani de Morón.  The group Proyecto Lorca will also take part in the gala.  The show, in the words of the mayor, “was conceived as an in-depth rundown of the important legacy of Enrique Morente, to honor his professional career.  Musical pieces of the artist, along with new material will offer the opportunity to achieve a better understanding of this renovator of flamenco with a work that even after his passing, will spread his influence.  Morente, artistically and socially was a mover and a shaker, always open to dialogue with other kinds of music, and ready to accept avant-garde forms of expression”.

The participation of Manuela Carrasco and Miguel Poveda at the Bienal was also announced.  At the present time they are working on a joint show that will be an absolute world premiere at the 2014 edition; more details are expected in the coming weeks.
