José Luis Montón, “Tio Luis El de la Juliana” prize

Last April 25th guitarist José Luis Montón received the “Tío Luis el de la Juliana” prize from the Colegio Mayor Isabel de España in Madrid.

April 23rd to 25th, 2013 the fifteenth Festival Flamenco “Tío Luis, El de la Juliana” was held at the Colegio Mayor Isabel de España.

For fifteen years this festival has been honoring and supporting stars of cante, dance and guitar by awarding the “Tío Luis el de la Juliana” prize, which in this edition has gone to flamenco guitarist José Luis Montón.

In addition to the performance of José Luis Montón and his gourp – singer Gabriel de la Tomasa, flautist Juan Carlos Aracil and percussionist Odeo Lizaso – singer Rafael Jiménez Falo presented his most recent recording “El Cante en Movimiento”.  Dance was represented by the young Mexican Triana Maciel who last year won the dance competition organized by the Villa Rosa tablao.
