With the title “Fuente y caudal”, the 18th Bienal de Flamenco completes its program entirely dedicated to Paco de Lucía.
A total of 20 world premieres, 2 national premieres and 3 special galas are part of the 66 shows and 75 performances that make up the program of 24 days, from September 12th to October 5th.
The complete program of the 18th Bienal de Flamenco, scheduled to take place from September 12th to October 5th, was today presented at the central offices within the Santa Clara Convent.
The program includes twenty world premieres: Flamenco Sacro of José de la Tomasa, Manolo Franco and soloists of the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla; El Niño of Rocío Márquez with the collaboration of Pepe Habichuela; Pinacendá of Farruquito; El sentido del Cambio of Dani de Morón with the special collaboration of Arcángel; Siete golpes y un Camino of María Pagés Compañía; Lo Cortés no quita lo Gallardo of José María Gallardo and Miguel Ángel Cortés with the special collaboration of Esperanza Fernández; Garnata of Marina Heredia; Última Parada of Merche Esmeralda directed by Juana Casado; NS/NC of Varuma Teatro; De lo Jondo y Verdadero of Esperanza Fernández with Rocío Márquez and Ana Morales as guest artists; Gitana Morena of the Compañía Manuela Carrasco with the special collaboration of Miguel Poveda; Flamenco A Cordes of Dorantes & García-Fons; Cantaoras. Lo Puro Manda of Zamara Carrasco, Anabel Valencia, Ámparo Lagares and Mara Rey; Una Noche en el Arenal of the Compañía Tablao Flamenco El Arenal with Loli Flores and Rafael de Carmen as guest artists; Flamencolandia: Una Aventura a Compás of Anabel Veloso; Cuerpo, Mente, Alma of Karime Amaya, Jesús Carmona and Paloma Fantova; …Y Sevilla of Segundo Falcón, Paco Jarana, Manolo Franco and Antonio Canales; Directo of José Valencia; El Callejón de los Pecados of Eduardo Guerrero and La Diferencia of Pastora Galván.
Two national premieres are included: Bosque Ardora of Rocío Molina and Sangre of Adela and Rafael Campallo.
The program also includes three special shows: the Inaugural Gala that opens the 2014 edition at the Maestranza theater with Enrique Morente. Granada, Sevilla, Nueva York. In this show Estrella Morente, Carmen Linares, El Pele, Arcángel, Juan José Amador, Soleá Morente, Enrique Morente Carbonell, Javier Latorre, Israel Galván, Belén Maya, Pepe Habichuela, Alfredo Lagos and Proyecto Lorca form the large cast of participating artists. All of them to pay tribute to Enrique Morente and his music; the closing Gala, also at the Maestranza theater, titled El Cante se Escribe con L centers on the figure of Juan Peña “El Lebrijano” and the Winners’ Gala of the Fourth Certámen Andaluz de Jóvenes Flamencos of the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud to take place at the Teatro Alameda.
Sixty-six shows in all, 75 performances between September 12th and October 5th, 24 days in the various venues chosen for this edition: Teatro de la Maestranza, Real Alcázar, Teatro Lope de Vega, Teatro Central, Teatro Alameda, Hotel Triana and the Espacio Santa Clara which features the Dormitorio Alto as well as the beautiful cloister of the convent.
