25 anniversary Festival Flamenco de Nimes

Festival Flamenco de Nimes 2015

Festival Flamenco de Nimes 2015

On its 25th anniversary, the Nimes Festival pays tribute to Paco de Lucía, the greatest guitarist in the history of flamenco.

January 11th to 25th flamenco returns to the French city of Nimes, to the Teatro Bernadette Lafont, formerly Theatre de Nimes, kicking off the 2015 festival calendar with a tribute to Paco de Lucía and a great artistic program, as is customary.

Israel Galván is back, this time with FLA.CO.MEN, and Rocío Molina with Bosque Ardora, both artists with their most recent shows; both artists have been associated with the Festival since their respective beginnings.  Also in dance, Belén Maya presents Los Invitados, and Joaquín Grilo is bringing Cositas Mías, two of the most celebrated works of 2014.  Also noteworthy is the presence of one of the most interesting young dancers, David Coria, whose show is titled Espiral.

Flamenco singing is always important at the Festival de Nimes, and in this edition we can enjoy El Pele, Segundo Falcón, Mayte Martin, El Lebrijano and Miguel Ortega, in addition to the fine women singers in shows like Flamencos de Extremadura, not to mention Los Pañeros in their show De Algeciras Vengo, as well we Familias Gitanas, Sorderita and others…
Flamenco guitar will be present with two great stars, Manolo Franco and Rafael Rodríguez.  And always in our minds, Paco de Lucía, honored in this edition and the focus of several lectures, those of Juan José Téllez, Faustino Núñez, José Manuel Gamboa and José María Velázquez-Gaztelu, photo exhibits and the screening of La Búsqueda at the Semaphore Cinema.

Twenty-five years of a Flamenco Festival that is always an important focal point for this art-form.
