The dancer presented her show “Voces” in La Unión, a tribute to the great maestros of flamenco such as Paco de Lucía, Camarón, Moraíto, Antonio Gades, Enrique Morente and Carmen Amaya.

Impeccable Sara Baras

A tribute to the great maestros of flamenco who are no longer with us, the “voices” were the stars of the show at the Cathedral of Cante, and provided the basis for Sara Baras' and José Serrano's dancing along with the rest of the company.

Among the artists, the music of Keko Baldomero, the company's guitarist, along with Andrés Martínez, and the singing of Rubio de Pruna, Israel Fernández and Miguel Rosendo, and the percussion of Antonio Suárez and Manuel Muñoz “Pájaro”.

Large portraits of the honored artists turned into mirrors as required by the proceedings, as the show passed through a series of diverse flamenco forms: siguiriyas, taranto, soleá, soleá por bulería, bulerías…  Sara Baras danced to the maestros, alone, accompanied by José Serrano or along with the rest of the company.  Perfect choreographies, fine music and lighting; in other words, what Sara Baras knows how to do better than anyone, an impeccable show.

Cultural Agenda

In the early evening, at the Casa del Piñón, the book “La Carpeta de Pencho Cros, Coplas para el cante flamenco” was presented by its author, Enrique Hernández Luike.  The work is a collection of the winning verses of all the poetry contests, most of them by Luike himself.  Following this, Paco Paredes gave a conference on Manuel González “Guerrita”, As de la ópera flamenca.

There was also a performance by Coral Argentum, and the group La Ziringaya in honor of the Popular Republic of China, in presence of that country's ambasssador Lyu Fan, who later on would accept the award “Catedral del Cante” in his country's name.
