Special report: 52 Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas.

Strength and talent join forces on the stage of La Uníon with Arcángel and Marina Heredia.

La Unión’s Cathedral of Cante was jumping last night once again with the tremendous performance of two singers who delivered all their talent and energy in their respective performances. Marina Heredia from Granada, and Arcángel from Huelva presented their shows “Recital de Corte Clásico” and “Desde la Tierra”.

The Festival Internacional Cante de las Minas de La Uníon has reached its mid-point, and after the successes of Sara Baras, José Mercé, Juan Valderrama, Carlos Piñana, Dorantes, Rocío Márguez and Miguel de Tena, singer Marina Heredia held nothing back and began the evening with pregones which won over the audience from the first moment.

Wearing an elegant black dress and a shawl embroidered with white flowers, the daughter of singer Jaime Heredia “El Parrón” performed a varied repertoire that included alegrías, malagueñas, fandangos and soleá with characteristic strength, finishing with much-applauded mining cantes, siguiriyas, tangos and bulerías.

Thanks to the fresh sound of José Quevedo “Bolita de Jerez” on guitar which triggered continuous “ole´s” from the audience, and having put the shawl to one side, Marina Heredia made the most of her great technical ability, and evoked her Granada origins, being applauded by all those present who will never forget this singer.

In Arcángel’s show “Desde la Tierra”, the singer shared the stage with guitarists Miguel Ángel Cortés and Dani de Morón, and set out a wide repertoire including granaínas, malagueñas, abandolaos, caña and taranta among other cantes. Francisco José Arcángel Ramos is one of the most popular flamenco artists of the moment.

And as is becoming the tradition at the Festival Internacional del Cante de las Minas, after their performances, the two stars of the night unveiled their respective “Lámparas” on the Avenida del Flamenco leaving their names engraved to commemorate this magical night of flamenco.
