El Cabrero's faithful fans acclaim the singer at the first Gala Flamenco show of the Festival. Manuel Cuevas returns to the Festival fourteen years after winning the Lámpara Minera.

Singer José Domínguez “El Cabrero” returned to the Cathedral of Cante offering a varied repertoire for a devoted audience of fans who received him with open arms, anxious to hear their idol.  The Seville singer, wearing his traditional hat, delivered his usual fare with political content, the songs which he first recorded in 1975, his voice and a guitar, that of Rafael Rodríguez “El Cabeza”.

The first of the gala shows began with the return of Seville singer Manuel Cuevas to the Cante de las Minas de La Unión.  He gave a recital of more than an hour and a quarter demonstrating the richness of his voice in the most difficult forms such as mineras and tarantas of this area.

Before the show, the mayor of La Unión, on behalf of the Cante de las Minas Foundation, presented Peter Platte, councillor of Education and Culture of the German embassy in Spain, the prize “Catedral del Cante” for the Federal Republic of Germany.
