All for a good cause, “Proyecto
Hombre”
From the Cruzcampo company whose roots are linked to southern Spain,
on the occasion of their one-hundredth anniversary, a mega-concert
with none other than Francisco Sánchez Gómez, better
known as Paco de Lucía, who, the day after receiving his
Príncipe de Asturias prize, once again performed shortly
after his appearance Seville’s thirteenth Bienal de Flamenco.
With Paco de Lucía who was actually the “warm-up”
act, was Sara Baras, winner of the Premio Nacional de Danza 2004,
and one of the most noteworthy exponents of flamenco dance, and
Seville dancer Antonio Canales. In the humble opinion of this reviewer,
the latter could have done without so many lightning-fast closings
that seemed geared to milk applause, but Antonio went over the top
to get public approval.

Also out of place, since oil and water don’t mix, was the
promising egocentric group SFDK, at the opposite end of the spectrum
with their rap that included a verse from García Lorca which
had also been used in one of the publicity spots for the beer manufacturer,
but not everyone in the audience was able to keep focused and attention
wandered.
Along with them and accompanying Sara Baras, the promising young
dancer Raúl Fernández who added his grain of sand
without being exceptional, while contributing to this noble cause
“Proyecto Hombre” at the Cruzcampo benefit.
was high time big business accepted its social responsibility. Cruzcampo
is currently in the hands of the multinational Heineken España,
S.A., and thanks to them, and to Proyecto Hombre, proceeds will
go to the construction of a new therapeutic community specialized
in the rehabilitation of drug-dependent individuals.
In the words of emcee Miguel Bosé, “it’s all
for a worthy cause, Proyecto Hombre!”. Other artists who generously
contributed their performances were Rafael de Utrera, La Tana, Montse
Cortés, Duquende, Herminia Borja, Niño Josele, Alain
Pérez, Antonio Serrano and of course Miguel Bosé himself.
Each and every one gave the utmost, bravo to them all, and especially
to Paco de Lucía who was superb.
