José
Antonio Díaz Fernández, flamenco singer better known by
his nickname “Chaquetón” and who passed away the end
of 2003, will be the object of a tribute in Móstoles (Madrid) the
first day of March. The elite of Madrid flamenco artists is scheduled
to take part in this heartfelt event for one of the best-loved singers
who is always remembered for his good humor, warm, outgoing personality
and of course, his knowledge of cante.

Noteworthy is the participation of Chaquetón’s brother Manuel
el Flecha, also a singer. The dance presentation will be covered by Manolete
and Tati, guitar will be in the able hands of maestros Juan and Pepe Habichuela,
Enrique de Melchor and José María Molero, and cante is the
responsibility of José Menese, Carmen Linares and Vicente Soto
among others who so generously offered to lend a hand so this tribute
may be worthy of the beloved flamenco singer who left us all too soon.
