Sara Baras prepares the world premiere of her latest work 'Sabores'

Awarded Spain’s National Prize for Dance in 2003, Sara Baras is about to debut her most recent work in Paris. The Champs Elysées e theater is the grand stage where “Sabores” will see the light for the first time. In recent declarations the dancer confessed to feeling a combination of nervousness and satisfaction. “because they’ve told me the tickets are selling like hotcakes”. Her image has been all over Paris for several weeks and expectation is high.

She explained to reporters that Sabores is a light-hearted show with
no script, reveling in the different flamenco forms. The new work is dedicated
to her mother Concha Calero who was her first dance teacher. Guest artists
are Luis Ortega and José Serrano although Sara points out that
the show is definitely a team effort. She herself designed the wardrobe
and lighting. Other collaborators include composers José María
Bandera and José Carlos Gómez.

Earlier successes by this dancer choreographer have included Juana la
Loca, Mariana Pineda, Sueños and Sensaciones and this latest work
already has been contracted for a full year during which time it will
travel to Paris, Barcelona, New York, Japan and South America among other
places in addition to being included in the upcoming Flamenco Festival
London 2006 as well as the Festival de Jerez.
