Matilde Coral to be honored at Andújar’s cultural week

The flamenco club “Los Romeros de Andújar (Jaén) has a prize established which annually recognizes those figures of the world of flamenco which in the club’s opinion have proven themselves worthy of this distinction.

This
is the fourth time the distinction which carries the name of cante maestro
Rafael Romero “El Gallina”, a native of Andújar, is
to be awarded.

The first year it went to singer Arcángel. In the second edition
it was singer Rosario López, and the third went to the Peña
Flamenca de Tokio in recognition of their work in the study and dissemination
of flamenco. This year the prize goes to the maestra of flamenco dance,
Matilde Coral.

The presentation is scheduled for May and forms part of a cultural week
whose program is now in the works.
