GIRALDILLO PRIZES OF THE BIENAL

In a meeting with the director of the Bienal, Domingo González, a non-voting member, with the official counsellors of the festival, the following prizes were decided upon:

• Giraldillo for cante: Miguel Poveda.
• Giraldillo for dance: Eva Yerbabuena.
• Giraldillo for guitar: Paco Jarana.
• Giraldillo of “maestría” : Javier Barón.
• Giraldillo for a young hopeful: Luisa Palicio.
• Giraldillo for innovation: La Francesa y Malgama, Circontemporáneo
y Compás. La Bienal wishes to show its admiration, not only for
the capacity of “La Francesa” to defy tradition with wisdom
and creat a new expressive idiom, but also the beginning of a new creative
path, as is the case of Malgama, which offers children a colorful message
with sights and sounds.
• Giraldillo for the best show: La Puerta Abierta de Isabel Bayón.
• Giraldillo for the best staging: Mario Maya for Andalucía,
el Flamenco y la Humanidad.
• Giraldillo for the best choreography: For the “Rondeña”
of Maestro Granero and the revival of Bodas de Sangre.
• Giraldillo for best music: Pedro Sierra for La Francesa.
• Giraldillo for the “Most Magical Moment of the 2006 Bienal”:
For the sevillanas from “Tierra de Calma”, (Miguel Poveda,
Eva Yerbabuena, Dorantes, Paco Jarana).
• Giraldillo for best musical interpretation. Antonio Coronel and
Bobote.
