'Flamenco F estival' – Bienal de Flamenco

Last Thursday May 27th the series «Flamenco F estival» scheduled for June 15-22 in the María Luisa park was presented at the Bienal headquarters at the Pabellón Real in Sevilla. All the shows will be at half past ten in the evening.

Manuel Copete, director of the Bienal, Joaquín Dobladez, director
of the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud and Raú Comba, head of
the Teatro Zambra de Granada announced the program. Within this series
which takes the place of what in earlier editions was the Concurso de
Jóvenes Intérpretes, there are two sections: «Más
jóvenes, más flamenco» and «Más flamenco,
más músicas». The first, together with the Instituto
Andaluz de la Juventud «hopes to inspire a new generation of flamenco
artists who are already moving in the professional arena»; and the
second, highlights the artistic and cultural fusion of flamenco with other
music.

With this goal the organization hopes «to bring flamenco within
reach of young people who identify more and more with flamenco, and support
them, because that’s the best guarantee of continuity» according
to Joaquín Dobladez. «Más jóvenes, más
flamenco» includes 50 artists under the age of 30 who will offer
their recitals in front of the Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares,
a place whose combined capacity throughout the festival is 27,000 seats.
