“Maestro, when I sing your songs I’m the luckiest person
on earth!”
Thus exclaims Falete in the acknowledgements of
his new record Puta Mentira. And it’s no exaggeration because all
the songs were composed by Manuel Alejandro, one of the most important
songwriters of Spanish music today.

With his first record having been 39 weeks on the bestseller lists in
Spain and a gold recording under his belt Falete has now recorded his
second album. “Puta Mentira” is not a long recording although
it contains nine songs: Amor de Hecho, Donde, Puta Mentira, El Amar y
el Querer, Al que me Siga, Si tú Entendieras, Algo más que
un Amigo, Soy su Amante and Sevilla.

Guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez plays for the rumba Amor
de Hecho. The song Donde to the rhythm of bulería is followed by
Puta Mentira, the title song which is actually a bolero set to orchestra.
And so the recording continues with a variety of rumbas, bulerias and
boleros in this recording which is a decisive step forward for Falete
who no longer is content with interpreting well-known songs by other singers
but now defends an exclusive repertoire created especially for him.

Songwriter Manuel Alejandro from Jerez de la Frontera has authored over
500 songs including such hits as Yo Soy Aquel, Soy Rebeldo, Háblame
del Mar Marinero, Manuela, Voy a Perder la Cabeza por tu Amor, Se Me Va
and many others which have been interpreted over the years by such singers
as Raphael, Jeanette, Marisol, Julio Iglesias, El Puma, Bunbury, Bambino
or Elefantes just to name a few.

Falete, 28 years old, debuted at the age of 17 singing for La Chunga
at Seville’s Lope de Vega theater. After travelilng to the United
States with Juanito Valderrama, José Menese and José Manuel
Soto, he recorded in 1997 on the anthology Novísimos. In 2002 he
traveled to Japan with Paquera de Jerez and in 2004 released his record
Amar Duele which made him a star overnight.

Produced by José Miguel and Borja Evora and recorded in Sanlúcar
de Barrameda, Puta Mentira is the confirmation of a unique talent in Spanish
music.
