The SGAE Foundation has organized a series of concerts “Estados del Alma”, a journey through the various aesthetics of flamenco with the guitar as the absolute focus.  Over the course of three days, from March 28th to 30th, the Sala Berlanga (at Andrés Mellado St, 53. Madrid) will host the performances of young artists – Amós Lora and Jose Israel Fernández (Tomatito Jr.), veterans Paquete, Jesús del Rosario and José María Bander, and the new project, “Dos Mujeres Tocaoras” (Antonia Jiménez and Marta Robles).  Tickets are 5 euros each day, and the concerts begin at 9:00pm.

“Estados del Alma” represents the diversity and creativity of today’s flamenco, from the guitarist’s point of view, a fundamental figure for understanding the evolution that has taken place in this artform.  The initiative includes young hopefuls such as Amós Lora and Tomatito Jr., who at 15 and 17 respectively, already have an extensive professional background having performed in events such as Suma Flamenca, Los Veranos de la Villa, Festival del Cante de Las Minas and Flamenco Pa Tos among others.

Also included is the work of artists such as Paquete (former head of Barbería del Sur, and regular collaborator of Enrique Morente among others), Jesús del Rosario (composer for Sara Baras and musician for Miguel Poveda, El Cigala and José Mercé), and José María Bandera (who played along with Paco de Lucía, Juan Manuel Cañizares, Jorge Pardo and Merche Esmeralda).

The series also offers the presentation in Madrid of “Dos Mujeres Tocaoras”, a project that joins Antonia Jiménez (who has accompanied Carmen Linares, Montse Cortés and Juan Pinilla, and Marta Robles (former member of the Quartet Galiu, Malasangre5, and more recently, Las Migas).
