After five years without recording, the singer from Granada has just presented record number 18 'MI PEQUEÑO RELOJ' to the media. A record which pays homage to the guitar is accompanied by recordings of the maestros Manolo de Huelva, Sabicas and Ramón Montoya and includes collaborations with Pepe Habichuela, Niño Josele, the techno musician Carlos Jean as well as the Latin rhythms of Caramelo, Alain Pérez and Jerry González. The lyrics are taken from León Felipe, Bécquer and Quevedo.

With the auditorium 'La Casa Encendida' filled to the rafters, the media
anxious to hear about the maestro's most recent work, and surrounded by
family and friends, Enrique Morente answered journalists' questions stating
that “you don't have to search for anything, just make a record that
comes out right”
..

Regarding the use of historic recordings of old guitarists, the singer
said that “it had to do with paying tribute to the guitar and the greats
of that era, regardless of whether or not it was hard to voice over those
recordings, the important thing is we managed to do it, it's an outline
and an idea for a possibly good record”
.

The recording consists of 14 pieces, and “all of them dominate, we
tried to make each one interesting in its own way”
. Enrique appeared
pleased with Carlos Jean's collaboration and the music he makes with his
machines, “sometimes machines are better people than us” he quipped.

The record contains some social political themes, 'Alegato contra las
armas' [against weapons] and 'Reloj molesto' [bothersome watch] dedicade
to Lula (Esperanza from Brasil). Pointing out that it had to do with thanking
a politician – “they're not all bad” – for his good intentions. Enrique
also explained that “flamenco lyrics have always addressed social issues
of their times, perhaps without directly entering the political arena,
but reflecting past events. Flamenco has every right to enter this realm,
it has to be at the service of men and women”
.

At the end of the presentation, the cantaor sang the title song of the
record accompanied by Niño Josele on the guitar, and the dance of Israel
Galván. The singer can be seen presenting his record “Mi pqueño reloj”
live on July 13th, 2003 in the Patio Central Conde Duque de Madrid.
