Spain’s TV-2 will unveil a new program July 27th called “Flamenco Para tus Ojos”, a unique journey through the forms of flamenco and his geographic capitals presented by Diego “El Cigala”.  The series, composed of 13 chapters recorded in High Definition and Dolby E, will be shown in the wee hours of Saturday, and brings together current flamenco stars, from Tomatito to Diego Carrasco, Diana Navarro and Raimundo Amador, among others.

The series examines flamenco from the perspective of the various forms (fandangos, bulerías, cantes de ida y vuelta, etc…). the capitals of flamenco (Sevilla, Cádiz, Jerez, Málaga, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Badajoz y Madrid), as well as the different types of music that have today made flamenco a World Cultural Heritage: classical music, jazz, light opera and lyrical song.

Presented by Diego “El Cigala”, well-known stars will introduce the various song-forms of their hometowns in an exceptional run-down never before seen on television.  The series, directed by Alejandro Vallejo and produced by José Luis Ruperez for RumorFilms, includes the participation of people who have contributed in unique ways to the promotion of “deep song” such as Chick Corea, Juan Carmona, Fosforito, Paquito d’Rivera, Ricardo Pachón and Manuel Morao.

Performers such as El Pele and Pepe Habichuela appear with so-called “newcomers” (Israel, María Ángeles Fernández, Tamara, María Toledo, Piculabe, Joana Jiménez and Manuel Lombo), will share the stage with others crowned as “new flamencos” towards the end of the 1980’s (El Negri, Josemi Carmona, Diego Amador, Jose “El Francés” and Esperanza Fernández).  Also appearing are older maestros such as Antonio de Canillas, Guadiana, Ramón el Portugués, Pardo, Benavent & DiGeraldo and Ara Malikian.

Music for the 30-minute shows was supervised by Faustino Núñez, Juan Carlos Gómez (El Bola or Gordos) and sound engineer Fran Gude (Sabina, Joan Valent),with a crew of 26 people who filmed in 9 cities over a period of two years.
