Antonio Gades has informed this festival's organization that due to reasons beyond his control he will not be able to attend the tribute in his honor at the forty-third Festival de Cante de las Minas on Tuesday, August 12th.
Gades is experiencing an attack of high fever and his physicians have
advised against this, or any other trip. The choreographer and dancer
has expressed profound regret to the organization and stated that he “had
been anxiously looking forward to this tribute”.
The official act in his honor, scheduled to take place Tuesday at 8:45
p.m. at La Unión's town hall has therefore been cancelled. José
Antonio, director of the Compañía Andaluza de Danza, will
accept the award in his name immediately preceding the Gala Flamenca in
the Antiguo Mercado Público and will address the audience in his
name at 10:45 p.m.
