The program of the 14th Muestra de Flamenco Los Veranos del Corral, focused on dance and scheduled to be held from July 23rd to August 16th in the historic venue the Corral del Carbón, was presented in Granada.  Participating artists are a group of twenty young dancers, along with seasoned veterans like Antonio Canales and Javier Latorre who recently received Spain’s National Dance Prize.

The series is organized by the Teatro de la Zambra with the cooperation of the Instituto Andaluz de Flamenco of the Culture cabinet of the Instituto Andaluz de la Juventud and Caja Granada bank.

The roster of artists for this edition includes Granada dancers such as Maripaz Lucena and Luis de Luis.  Among the young hopefuls are Lucía Álvarez “La Piñona”, winner of the first prize in dance from the Festival de las Minas de la Unión (Murcia), and Moisés Navarro, winner of the Andalusian contest for young flamenco artists.

Granada and Japan

This fourteenth editon of the Veranos del Corral is paying special attention to the flamenco relationship between Granada and Japan begun last year, and in this respect there will be performances by Saori and Ami, two of the most reputable flamenco dancers of Japan.

The program is rounded out with the scheduled performances of Carmen la Talegona, Marcos Flores, Carmen Lugo, Nazaret Reyes, David Coria, Saray de los Reyes, Anabel Veloso, Lidón Patiño and Luis de Luis.

As a parellel activity, the event included the customary flamenco dance courses offered by the Carmen de las Cuevas school with the participation of Manuel Liñán, Pastora Galván, Antonio Canales and Patricia Guerrero.  This year the Escuela Internacional of Manolete is also participating, and the master dancer himself will be giving a course from July 23rd to 28th, while Farruquito will give another from August 1st to 5th.

Tickets are 16 euros, with applicable discounts for students and pensioners.  Inscription in any of the courses gives an additional 25% discount.
