39th Caracola Lebrijana

Saturday July 17th, 2004. 11:00pm. Campo de deportes del Convento de San Francisco, Lebrija (Sevilla)

About
to celebrate its thirty-ninth edition, the Caracolá Lebrijana is
a member of the club of Spain’s oldest continuing cante festivals.
Year after year it is also one of the most popular as well when Lebrija’s
athletic field fills with thousands of flamenco fans.

This year the bill of artists reflects the rich heritage of a town close
to Jerez but with its own style of flamenco. In addition to local stars
such as Manuel de Paula, Miguel Funi, Pepe Montaraz and Inés Bacán,
one of the principal artists of the night, Esperanza Fernández,
has close family ties with Lebrija and with pianist Dorantes who often
accompanies her. Local dancer Concha Vargas will present her cuadro in
the dance portion of the show. Arcángel, the young man from Huelva
who recently appeared at the Potaje Gitano de Utrera will round out the
evening.
