Flamenco Festival London celebrates its 20th anniversary with a vision towards the present and future of flamenco Art

Flamenco Festival Londres 2025

Flamenco Festival Londres 2025

From May 27 to June 8, London will become the world capital of flamenco as it hosts the 20th anniversary edition of Flamenco Festival, presenting its most ambitious lineup to date: 17 companies, 25 performances, and 146 Spanish artists and technicians will showcase the full range of flamenco talent across renowned venues such as Sadler’s Wells Theatre, Lilian Baylis Studio, Kings Place, and Jazz Café.

The program, officially presented in Seville by festival director Miguel Marín, pays tribute to the iconic artists who have shaped the festival’s history, highlights the leading role of women in flamenco, gives special prominence to the guitar as a performing art in its own right, and places the spotlight on the most innovative trends in the genre.

Flamenco Dance Legends Return to London

The festival welcomes back flamenco legends such as Sara Baras, who will offer six performances of Vuela, her tribute to Paco de Lucía. Also featured are Manuel Liñán (Muerta de Amor), Farruquito (Con-Cierto Flamenco), and the acclaimed duo Estévez and Paños with their Experimental Altarpiece on Flamenco Dance. These are all key figures in the history of the festival.

‘Ellas, Flamencas’: Celebrating Female Talent

For the first time, the festival launches a special program titled ‘Ellas, Flamencas’, spotlighting over ten leading female singers and dancers, including La Tremendita, Argentina, Queralt Lahoz, Lela Soto, Ángeles Toledano, Las Migas, Paula Comitre, Florencia Oz, Carmen Angulo, Mercedes Ruiz, and the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía under the direction of Patricia Guerrero, who presents Pineda, her reinterpretation of Lorca’s work about Mariana Pineda.

A Window into the Flamenco of Tomorrow

The festival confirms its role as a platform for the most contemporary expressions of flamenco. London audiences will experience cutting-edge performances such as Matancera by La Tremendita, the genre-blending exploration of Queralt Lahoz, the London debut of La Plazuela with Roneo Funk Club, and the collaborative production Parcas, featuring Comitre, Oz, and Angulo, which fuses flamenco with electronic music and mythology.

The Flamenco Guitar as a Leading Voice on Stage

For the first time, a flamenco guitar series will be presented in collaboration with Kings Place, Fundación SGAE, and the International Guitar Foundation. Alejandro Hurtado, Manuel Valencia (with El Choro), and Álvaro Martinete (with Claudia La Debla) will claim the guitar’s central role in flamenco storytelling, placing it at the heart of stage narrative.

Training and Inclusion: Workshops in Collaboration with Acosta Dance Foundation

The festival is also partnering with the Acosta Dance Foundation to offer flamenco dance workshops on May 31 and June 1, open to all levels and led by acclaimed artists Manuel Liñán, Alberto Sellés, Juan Tomás de la Molía, and José Agudo, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to education and inclusivity.
