Maestros.
In an unusual venue for a flamenco show, the crowning touch to the festival was presented. A sort of airplane hangar, used for trade fairs was decked out with banquet tables to receive more than a thousand people forthe closing gala dinner and show.Titled “Maestros”, the dancers and musicians who had been doing workshops over the course of the festival all came together for the sole purpose of doing what they do best: sing, dance and play flamenco music.
A wonderful show with Rocío Molina’s alegrías, Fuensanta la Moneta’s siguiriyas and Rafaela Carrasco, experimental but traditional with her fandangos. Three young stars of female flamenco dance. The voices of José Valencia and David Palomar, with the guitars of Eugenio Iglesias and Dani de Morón added up to a great group and showing that flamenco is a spontaneous art, full of improvisation. The closing fiesta final included a wonderful choreography by the three maestras, and reached a climax with David Palomar’s dance.
