A new investigation gives a greater
perspective to the life of Enrique el Mellizo

Amongst the many commemorative acts triggered by the centennial of Enrique el Mellizo, one flamenco-lover in Cádiz decided to add his investigative work to give dimension to the piecemeal impressions of this singer that have reached modern times. “Enrique Jiménez ‘El Mellizo’. Vida y obra de un compositor jondo” is the title of this never-before-published text by Antonio Barberán, a flamenco fan devoted to his hometown of Cádiz. Familiar with the Cádiz school of cante and its artists, he has published numerous articles including those about Los Gitanitos de Cái, Adela la Chaqueta, Chiclanita and Maestro Juan Díaz in addition to reviews of various performances in Cádiz, and he has been keynote speaker at specialized institutions.
